Sister Death

Sister death

Oh, Sister Death, beautiful like the evening shadows,

Calm like a gentle breeze,

Swifter than lightning.

Sister Death, the chariot to a new beginning,

Friend to mortal flesh,

Terror of the wicked.

Oh, Sister Death, how cold your hands and feet are,

How swiftly you embrace without invitation.

Sister Death, the creditor!

No one escapes the conscientious accounting of Sister Death;

every breath is a step closer to the final tally.
